Inland vessels arriving in the port, terminals needing to free up space, planners trying to coordinate everything. This is a highly complex puzzle requiring a lot of data. Fortunately, our client from Rotterdam has the solution to automatically guide everything into the right ‘fairways’. Are you eager to dive into this complex landscape as their new Data Analyst?

Tell me more!

Exactly! They prevent endless phone calls, delays, and frustration with a centralized planning system powered by smart, complex algorithms. Inland vessels, terminals, and depots share their schedules and available capacity, and the system automatically calculates the most efficient distribution. At a glance, it’s clear which ships can go where and when.

And they’re doing it well! Today, more than half of all inland shipping in the Port of Rotterdam is coordinated through their system. To stay ahead, they continuously listen to users, identify areas for improvement, and fine-tune their systems. The next step they will take is in the field of Data. Your help will be very useful here!

What will I do here?

This organization has collected an incredible amount of data in the 15 years since its existence. However, they are running into the problem that they don’t have enough insight into exactly what data is available and what can be done with it.

Therefore, as a Data Analyst, you will work on figuring out exactly what data exists, what can be done with this data, and how the organization should be further structured around the data. Which tools should be used, for example? Which models need to be developed to make it a success? What things can be automated regarding data? Which colleagues need to be involved? Etc.

All in all, a very broad Data Analyst role where you can build and truly make an impact.

I want this! But can I do it?

We assume so! You completed a university-level (WO) education, preferably in a data, technical, or econometrics-related field. You add at least 3-5 years of experience in a comparable role, where you are accustomed to working with data and complex systems.

You enjoy analyzing data and are able to develop models that truly add value for an organization. With a conceptual understanding, you connect data with operational results and see how small adjustments influence the bigger picture.

Data is your favorite tool, and you effortlessly translate large amounts of information into concrete improvements. You also always think about how you can automate things or what models are needed to arrive at the right insights. You don’t just see what can be improved, you tackle it directly, as you continuously seek improvements, minimize errors, and always think a step ahead. You work independently, immediately see what needs to be done, and don’t wait for the tide to turn. You address issues immediately and monitor progress.

Nothing comes for free!

We understand, you get more than just a beautiful view of the harbor. Expect a monthly salary between €5.000 and €6.000, based on your knowledge and experience. Holidays are well-arranged with 25 vacation days per year (based on 40 hours), and there is even the possibility to purchase extra days. In addition, they ensure you are well-equipped with a company laptop and phone, and they reimburse your commute. Is this your new challenge? Apply directly, and we will speak to you soon!
