It’s boring, right? Sitting at home with nothing to do. No bars or restaurants, can’t go to the gym and worst of all, no sports. At least not on TV. But what if I told you that you can still enjoy your favorite sport?

That would be great but how?

The world is changing faster than ever and the world of sports is no different. Even big data is making an impact on the sport. A massive impact. This company makes it all possible.

During each match, a huge amount of data is collected and there are valuable insights hidden inside. This company works to extract those insights and delivering them to clubs, players, and fans all over the world. By using state-of-the-art Machine Learning techniques they are able to extract valuable information that they deliver to their customers through a web portal and customer-facing API’s. This platform is backed by a streaming data pipeline that runs on AWS and they need your help to further develop, improve, and maintain it.

What do they need me to do?

The bulk of your work will be to maintain and improve the current platform running on AWS. Of course, this also involves monitoring the different data streams, integrating their Machine Learning models into the platform, and creating API’s. Lastly, you’ll also be improving the internal processes by working on the adoption of best practices when it comes to data infrastructure and working Agile.

I already have my football boots on, what else do I need?

That’s a good start but honestly, a few years of relevant DevOps / Data Engineering might be a bit more important. Preferably AWS, of course. Some experience working with Kafka, MongoDB, or Datadog will also definitely come in handy and I think it goes without saying that you’ll have to know Python.

Do I get paid like a football player?

Unfortunately, no. But the pay definitely isn’t bad either. There’s a base salary between €50.000 and €65.000 gross a year and the perks are nice as well. Aside from the fact that you’ll be working in a company that is about to change the sport you love forever, you’ll get extensive opportunities to develop yourself further, a lot of fun events, and the opportunity to work with pretty much every major company in the world of football. What more do you want? Click apply and we’ll get the ball rolling.
