It’s boring, right? Sitting at home with nothing to do. No bars or restaurants, can’t go to the gym and worst of all, no sports. At least not on TV. But what if I told you that you can still enjoy your favorite sport?
That would be great but how?
The world is changing faster than ever and the world of sports is no different. Even big data is making an impact on the sport. A massive impact. This company makes it all possible.
With their state-of-the-art solution, they track every single movement during every single match in real-time, stream it to the cloud, and analyze it with advanced deep learning algorithms. This allows them to extract valuable insights for their clients, like clubs and players, and create real-time visualizations of things happening on the field for fans watching at home. And it’s about to get even better. They’re currently working on a new version of the streaming data platform everything runs on. And you could be a part of it.
What do they need me to do?
They need your help to up their game, so they can do the same for players around the world. Their new platform will be built using Java and React.js and they want to manage their low-latency GraphQL APIs using Kubernetes.
I already have my football boots on, what else do I need?
That’s a good start but honestly, some relevant experience with GraphQL and Kubernetes might be a bit more important. And a few years in Java and React, that goes without saying. Beyond that, it’s mostly about the mindset. Being a team player with a winning mentality. Sure, experience with things like Deep Learning, GCP, Kafka, or even C++ is definitely a way to gain a competitive edge but as any professional athlete will tell you, it’s all about your mindset.
Do I get paid like a football player?
Unfortunately, no. But the pay definitely isn’t bad either. There’s a base salary between €45.000 and €55.000 gross a year and the perks are nice as well. Aside from the fact that you’ll be working in a company that is about to change the sport you love forever, you’ll get extensive opportunities to develop yourself further, a lot of fun events, and the opportunity to work with pretty much every major company in the world of football.
