For an organization that used to work with fossil fuels, it is now time for the big switch. Investing in electric vehicles and other renewable fuels, that is what it is all about now. And quickly too. A lot is happening already, but not enough. You are going to give that extra push in the right direction.
Interesting…
You probably know this company from the petrol stations all over Europe, but nowadays, you can also fill up with more than ‘normal’ fuel. Charging points are being added to every petrol station and because demand is growing fast, supply is also growing fast. Good things for greening, therefore, but it requires a lot of organization. This greening is therefore tied to clearly defined objectives on a route. Setting goals is one thing, achieving them is another! As Director of Sustainability, you are the pulling force here!
How can I contribute?
Within this multinational, things are changing. The will is there, the plan is there, only the execution remains. As Sustainability Manager, you determine which sustainable steps will have the greatest impact and will be taken. You do this based on legislation and developments in the industry. It is your responsibility to keep the business units informed of the risks and the ultimate goal. In doing so, you ensure that the right stakeholders are on board throughout the company. This can sometimes seem contradictory at first. It is up to you to deal with this in the right way, it is ultimately about corporate responsibility.
And what do I need to be able to do?
To start with, it is important that you know all the ins and outs of the environment, energy transition and outflow reporting. Preferably, you have several years of experience in a corporate function where this matter was strongly involved. You have a Master’s Degree with a technical, chemical or mechanical background and a thorough understanding of Green House Gases, outflow reporting, environmental legislation and market developments. It is very important that you are a strong communicator. Ultimately, you are the internal face of this transition.
