Behind it all? A team of finance, blockchain, and tech specialists pushing DeFi forward. Right now, that engine runs on one data scientist and a lot of ambition, and that’s exactly where you come in.

So, what will I actually be doing?

You’ll be the first dedicated data engineering & MLOps hire, building the data function from theground up. No inherited mess to untangle, no legacy pipelines to reverse-engineer: you get to decide how this is built, reporting directly to the CTO.

You’ll design and stand up the pipelines that turn raw blockchain data, market signals, and security audits into something the business can actually act on. You’ll take the models and analysis coming out of the data scientist’s work and give them a real production home: proper deployment, monitoring, versioning, the works. On Azure ML, you’ll build out the MLOps tooling from scratch: CI/CD for models, experiment tracking, model registries, drift monitoring. Because in a world where bad data means bad financial decisions, “it works on my machine” isn’t good enough.

You’ll work right alongside the existing data scientist and the backend/full-stack team, and you’ll have real input into what this function becomes. Want to grow it into a team you lead down the line? That’s very much on the table, though the priority right now is a strong, autonomous senior IC. This isn’t designed to stay a one-person show forever.

Can I actually do this?

If you’ve got several years of experience in data engineering and/or MLOps, and you’ve actually owned production ML systems, not just built models and handed them off, then yes, you absolutely can.

You’re strong in Python, comfortable with data pipeline tooling (Airflow, Dagster, or similar), and you’ve got real hands-on MLOps chops: MLflow or equivalent, CI/CD for ML, Docker/Kubernetes. Azure experience is a strong plus given the stack here, but if you’re excellent on AWS or GCP and ready to make the switch, that’s worth a conversation too.

Crypto and DeFi experience? Not required. What matters far more is that you’ve built or scaled a data/ML function before, that you’re comfortable with high-volume, messy, external data, and that you thrive on ambiguity rather than needing a roadmap handed to you. Fluent English is essential, since you’ll be collaborating closely with traders, developers, and crypto specialists from day one.
