Robots can lift, carry, and drive all day long, but none of that matters if they don’t know exactly where they are. Our client builds the technology that answers that question, and they are looking for a C++ Software Engineer who wants to grow into a specialist in one of the most interesting corners of robotics, working on software that is already running in across hundreds of sites all over the globe.

About the company

Factories and warehouses are rapidly automating their material flows, and robots are at the heart of that shift. Our client developed a vision-based localization system that lets these robots determine their position with exceptional precision, without GPS and without the building having to be fitted with markers, tape, or other infrastructure. The technology is proven in demanding industrial and logistics environments worldwide, and the customer base is solid and still growing.

The company started out as a start-up and was recently acquired by a large German technology group. It still has the pace, focus, and room for new ideas you’d expect from a start-up, but now with the financial backing and stability of a global corporate behind it. That also opens the door to working on how their technology fits into the group’s wider portfolio of localization and navigation solutions.

The role

This role is a great fit if you are looking for your second or third career step and want to build real depth in a unique technical domain. You’ll join a small development team of experienced engineers who are happy to share what they know, and who also value a fresh perspective and someone who asks sharp questions. In a team this size, your work lands directly in a product customers depend on, and as the company grows within its new group, so does the room to take on more ownership.

What you’ll work on

• Localization software. You develop new features and improve the core software behind the localization system, mainly in modern C++ and Python. You’ll be involved across the full lifecycle, from design through to implementation, testing, and deployment, and you’ll help explore how the technology can work together with other solutions in the group.
• Engineering quality. Performance, robustness, and reliability really matter when your software runs around the clock in industrial environments. You help turn complex technical challenges into clean, maintainable solutions, contribute to architecture discussions, and take secure software development seriously.
• Ways of working. You help the team keep improving how it builds and ships software, from CI/CD and automated testing to code reviews, documentation, and engineering standards.

Technical environment

The team works in a Linux-based environment, with modern C++ at the core of the localization software and Python alongside it. OpenCV drives the computer vision side, ROS2 connects the software to the wider robotics world, and GitLab with CI/CD keeps development and delivery automated and reliable.

What you bring

You have a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field, and a few years of professional software development experience. You write solid modern C++, you are comfortable with Python, and you feel at home in a Linux environment. You care about code that is well-structured, tested, and easy to maintain, and you understand why security matters in software that runs in industrial settings.

Experience with robotics, computer vision, localization, navigation, or sensor fusion is a big plus, but not a must if you are eager to learn the domain. You think in systems, you like to understand the “why” behind a problem, and you are comfortable giving and receiving honest feedback in an Agile team.

Dutch is not required, as long as you communicate clearly in English. Please note that the client is unable to offer visa sponsorship, so you need to already have the right to work in the Netherlands.

What’s on offer

You’ll join a company with a familiar, close-knit culture where people tend to stay for years, because the work is unique and the team is good to work with. The salary ranges from €55,000 to €65,000 per year including holiday allowance, plus an end-of-year bonus. You get 25 vacation days with the option to buy more, and a strong pension plan where the employer pays 75% of the contribution. On top of that there is a travel allowance or public transport card, a laptop and phone, and access to the group’s learning academy for ongoing training and development. You’ll work in a hybrid set-up. In the office on Mondays and Thursdays and every other Friday, and from home the rest of the week.
