You fit here perfectly! Because you’re someone who loves solving tough engineering puzzles and isn’t afraid to take the lead. You bring solid experience in marine mechanical systems and know how to guide a team without micromanaging. You’re sharp, practical, and always looking for smarter ways to get things done.

That’s me! What do they do here?

They develop and deliver the mechanical systems that form the backbone of large maritime projects—think ships and equipment used in industries like dredging, offshore, mining, and defense. Their work is complex and demands precision, because everything needs to perform perfectly in challenging conditions.

Working here means being part of a team that takes engineering seriously but isn’t stuck in old ways. Innovation and continuous improvement are part of the daily routine. You get to work on projects that have real impact worldwide, solving problems others can’t. Curious? The role is definitely cool!

What will I be doing here?

As Lead Engineer Marine Mechanical Systems, you’re the go-to person making sure the mechanical systems on ships work flawlessly in tough maritime conditions. You design, improve, and make sure everything is strong, reliable, and ready for the future.

You lead and coach a team of engineers, helping them do their best and grow. During tenders, you give sharp technical advice, spot production risks early, and think along about how to keep things smooth and on budget. You’re also the main contact for technical questions from colleagues and clients—from implementation all the way to aftersales.

You dig into processes, installations, and equipment to find and fix bottlenecks. You carefully check customer requirements—materials, quality, specs—and spot risks or chances right away. Drawings and documents? You make sure they’re clear and complete, fixing or improving them when needed. You help create detailed machinery and piping plans and decide what work should be outsourced. You take on engineering packages that need some extra attention and improve them with your expertise and input from others. You collaborate across teams to document everything properly and keep people updated with reports. Of course, you stay sharp on new tools and tech and make sure the team uses them to work smarter and better.

Can I do it?

You have a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related technical field such as Naval Architecture. You bring at least 2 years of solid experience in a leadership role within marine mechanical engineering or a similar environment. It’s essential that you’re analytical with strong problem-solving skills and willing to work in the Netherlands. Finally, you’re fluent in English, and speaking Dutch is a plus. Of course, you must have the legal right to work in the Netherlands, with a valid EU work visa or equivalent.

So… they pay well?

Absolutely! It pays very well. With a gross monthly salary between €5.600 and €7.600, plus 8 percent holiday allowance, this role offers strong financial security. You’ll enjoy plenty of time off with 40 (!!) vacation days and the option to buy or sell extra days. Flexible working hours and the possibility to work from home make it easy to balance work and life. Your pension, disability insurance, and healthcare support are well covered. Add to that a profit-sharing scheme, travel compensation, a generous training budget and access to a private gym, and you’ll see this job values both your talent and wellbeing.
