Sustainability is becoming increasingly important within the manufacturing industry. Customers, legislation, and the market are demanding greater transparency regarding the environmental impact of products, as well as well-founded decisions concerning circularity and carbon reduction. Life Cycle Assessments (LCAs) and Environmental Product Declarations (EPDs) are therefore becoming an increasingly important part of product development and innovation.

You will join an international technology company that develops high-quality solutions for sustainable buildings worldwide. Within the Building Technology business unit, the organisation develops innovative HVAC solutions that contribute to more efficient use of energy and natural resources. Due to the increasing focus on sustainability and product transparency, an opportunity has arisen for a new LCA & Data Specialist.

You will become part of the R&D team and work closely with colleagues from Product Development, Product Management, and international teams across the organisation. The international environment gives you access to extensive technical expertise, broad cross-functional collaboration, and plenty of opportunities to develop yourself further. At the same time, you will have a high level of freedom and responsibility to help embed sustainability more firmly within the organisation.

What will my role be?

As a Sustainability Data Specialist, you will be responsible for collecting, analysing, and interpreting the product data required to assess and demonstrate the environmental impact of products. You will support the execution of Life Cycle Assessments in accordance with ISO 14040 and ISO 14044 and make an important contribution to the preparation and maintenance of Environmental Product Declarations.

You will work with data relating to materials, energy consumption, emissions, and transport flows. By collecting, checking, and analysing this information carefully, you will ensure that sustainability assessments are reliable, traceable, and reproducible. Your insights will be used directly within product development and strategic decision-making.

You will also work closely with R&D colleagues to apply ecodesign principles during the development of new products. You will contribute ideas on how products can be made more sustainable, support internal sustainability projects, and monitor developments in LCA methodologies, legislation, regulations, and sustainability standards. In doing so, you will help create products that not only perform at a high technical level, but also have a lower environmental impact.

I want it, but am I qualified?

We believe you could be. You have completed a bachelor’s or master’s degree in Environmental Science, Industrial Ecology, Engineering, or a comparable technical or sustainability-related field. You have a strong interest in sustainability and are curious about how data can contribute to better and more sustainable products.

You have basic knowledge of Life Cycle Assessment methodologies or have gained experience with LCAs, sustainability assessments, or product analyses during your studies or professional career. Experience with Environmental Product Declarations is an advantage, but not a strict requirement. More importantly, you are analytically strong, work accurately, and enjoy processing and interpreting complex datasets. You work independently, take initiative, and enjoy collaborating with colleagues from different disciplines and countries. You have excellent Excel skills and communicate confidently in English, both verbally and in writing. Dutch language skills are considered a nice-to-have, but are not required.

For this position, you must currently live and be permitted to work in the Netherlands. You should also be available and interested in working 24 hours per week.

What do I get in return?

In return, you can expect an attractive employment package. You will receive a gross monthly salary between €3.500 and €5.000 on a full-time basis, depending on your knowledge and experience. As this is a 24-hour position, the actual salary will be calculated pro rata.

The position falls under the Dutch Metalektro collective labour agreement and includes 8% holiday allowance and an attractive profit-sharing scheme. You will also receive a company laptop and phone and work in a modern, sustainable environment where innovation is central. In addition, you can expect 27 annual leave days and 13 ADV days on a full-time basis, a travel allowance, and plenty of room for personal development and initiative.
