The world of financial reporting is under increasing pressure. The landscape has changed: organizations are increasingly operating with complex, international reporting structures and outsourced processes that require flawless coordination. In this dynamic environment, the role of a senior finance professional is no longer purely operational, it is the critical foundation on which the reliability of the entire business depends. This is a position for a strategic specialist who has made extreme precision their personal trademark.

Please note: Due to the Benelux scope of this role, professional proficiency in Dutch is essential. Candidates should have at least B2-level Dutch communication skills.

Why this role matters

The organization operates with a model in which detailed financial processing is outsourced to an external partner. This requires an internal coordinator who fully understands the process down to the smallest detail, safeguards quality and prevents escalations through proactive oversight. Without this sharp level of control, the line between reported figures and operational reality begins to blur. As the accountant in this role, you are that indispensable link for the entire region, ensuring the integrity of the figures for both the Netherlands and Belgium.

Do you recognize yourself in this?

You are a professional who does not wait for inaccuracies to surface, but identifies them before they arise. You have a sharp eye for balance sheet terminology and recognize discrepancies in reconciliations, even when the data initially appears correct. You operate at a high level of abstraction, set your own deadlines and take ownership of the collective end result. You switch effortlessly between technical accounting matters and pragmatic alignment with external auditors, tax specialists and international regulatory authorities.

What your work looks like

The core of the role revolves around the full Record to Report cycle, where you safeguard the integrity of financial data from the initial journal entry through to the final statutory reporting. In day-to-day practice, you perform in-depth analytical reviews of the balance sheet, validate complex reconciliations and assess the accuracy of fiscal reports such as VAT and withholding tax reporting. You fulfill a critical gatekeeper role in which you review the output of the external partner and, where required, prepare complex manual journal entries that require specific local expertise.

In addition, you prepare GAAP reconciliations and ensure the timely submission of local statutory accounts. You act as the key financial contact for teams responsible for transfer pricing and support external audit processes with solid financial substantiation. This means you are not a pure administrator, but an advisor with a broad financial overview who elevates the level of internal control within the organization.

What you bring

You have a minimum of ten years of accounting experience, including at least three years of relevant experience in a senior financial role, where you have built deep expertise in month-end closings and complex financial reporting. Experience supporting audits and setting up internal control environments is a strong advantage. You are an independent professional who thrives in an international corporate environment where structure and discipline are the standard. Strong analytical skills and a process-driven mindset are second nature to you and are used daily to improve quality and accuracy.

You speak at least B2-level Dutch, enabling you to communicate effectively with colleagues across the Benelux region.

What do you get in return?

You will receive a strong base salary of up to €80,000 per year, combined with a 10% performance-based bonus and a solid pension scheme. In addition, you will receive 37 vacation days and extra days dedicated to community involvement initiatives. The role is set up in a hybrid structure, where a minimum presence of three days per week in the office forms the basis for close collaboration with the team.

You will join an organization that operates globally within a sector where continuity of energy supply is an absolute necessity. The culture can best be described as pragmatic, fast-paced and highly content-driven. For an ambitious accountant who wants to apply their expertise within an international environment with tangible impact, this organization offers the ideal professional foundation.
