What are we talking about?

This wonderful organization is all about advancing scientific research to fight and treat cancer and other diseases. Making the right treatment decisions requires having all the diagnostic info from the patient and the tumor. They connect genetic data with treatment and outcome data, storing it all in their database, one of the biggest collections of genetic and clinical info of cancer patients.

A noble mission! How can I help?

As a Software Engineer you work on developing and implementing new technology stacks that have a direct impact on the lives of patients. In this role, you are responsible for functionally and technically improving and maintaining our IT infrastructure and applications, which form the basis for the analysis and clinical reporting of cancer patients. You collaborate closely with software development teams in partner hospitals to improve ACTIN’s data infrastructure. One of goals is to improve and increase research productivity and scalability using the latest Cloud techniques. You also design and implement a reliable CI/CD pipeline. With your skills, you make a real impact on the lives of patients. Ready to make an contribution to cancer research and improving the processes around it?

Definitely! But what do I need for this?

You have completed a bachelor’s and master’s degree in Software Engineering. In addition, you have at least 3 years of experience where you have built a solid knowledge of software development principles such as version control, agile methodology, and efficient coding practices. Experience with Java or Kotlin is a plus, as is knowledge of containerization and cloud platforms.

You are detail-oriented and the go-to person for completing projects from start to finish, and you are communicatively strong. You are motivated to improve care for cancer patients and have a strong interest in oncology, algorithms, and data analysis. Moreover, you speak and write fluent Dutch and excellent English.
